For nearly three months, Bilkis sat with two of her companions, Asma Khatoon (90) and Sarwari (75), and hundreds of women inside a canopied tent at Shaheen Bagh, obstructing a major roadway in Delhi. Bilkis and her two pals were known as the Shaheen Bagh Dadis (English: Grandmothers of Shaheen Bagh). The other women in Bilkis’ joint household took turns protesting as well.
