James Hunt was born in Belmont, Surrey, England on August 29, 1947, and died in Wimbledon, London, England on June 15, 1993. James Hunt Career

Career: – Hunt began his racing career in a racing Mini. He initially entered a race at the Snetterton Circuit in Norfolk, but race officials banned him from racing, citing many anomalies with the Mini, which angered Hunt and his teammate, Justin Fry. Hunt was eventually able to secure the required funds by working as a trainee manager for a telephone firm.

Soon after retiring, in 1979, Hunt was invited by Jonathan Martin, the head of BBC television sport, to join Murray Walker as a television commentator on the BBC 2 Formula One racing series Grand Prix. Hunt assumed the role after providing guest commentary at the 1979 British Grand Prix and held it for thirteen years until his death.

Hunt died of a heart attack in his sleep on June 15, 1993, at his home in Wimbledon. He was 45 years old at the time. Pallbearers during his burial service were his father, Wallis, his brothers Tim, Peter, and David, as well as his friend Anthony ‘Bubbles’ Horsley. The casket was brought out of the church and into the hearse, which driven two miles to Putney Vale Crematorium, where he was cremated.

After the service, most of the mourners repaired to Peter Hunt’s house to toast Wallis Hunt with a 1922 claret. James had given him the claret for his 60th birthday in 1982.
