Early Life: – Kiran Bedi, the daughter of Prakash and Prem Peshawaria, attended the Sacred Heart Convent School and enrolled in the National Cadet Corps (NCC). Her love of tennis led her to win the junior national Lawn Tennis Championship in 1966, the Asian Lawn Tennis Championship in 1972, and the All India Interstate Women’s Lawn Tennis Championship in 1976. She graduated from the Government College for Women in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts in English (Hons.) and a Master of Political Science. Bedi began her career as a political science instructor at Amritsar’s Khalsa College for Women. In July 1972, she made history when she became the first woman to join the Indian Police Service.
Career:– Bedi began playing tennis at the age of nine, inspired by her father. She trimmed her hair short as a teen tennis player because it interfered with her skills. She was assigned as Inspector General of the Delhi Prisons (IG). She relocated to West Delhi, where she helped to reduce crimes against women. As a traffic officer, she then managed traffic preparations for the 1982 Asian Games in Delhi and the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Goa in 1983. As Deputy Commissioner of Police for North Delhi, she spearheaded a drug-abuse campaign that grew into the Navjyoti Delhi Police Foundation (renamed to Navjyoti India Foundation in 2007)
